I have been buying lens hoods and caps from Fotodiox for some time and have always been well pleased with the quality of their products and the rapidity with which they ship. This lens hood is no exception. I had no trouble attaching it to my Canon 18-135 and could feel it lock into place. The hood is now securely on the lens until I decide to remove it. When you buy a Canon lens hood, you are apparently paying an awful lot for the brand name because this lens hood does the same job for a much lower price.

I am using the hood on a Canon 18-135 and have taken shots at 18mm, 135mm and in between and see no evidence that I am using a hood in any of the photos.

It is not a leash that attaches to the camera lens cap through the hole, it has a sticky tab on it that you are supposed to peel the backing off and stick to the lens cap as a loss prevention measure, which didn't seem reliable to me. So I cut the sticky part off and strung the string through the hold and tied it off. So, it will work. Haven’t had this cap for long, but it’s basically indistinguishable from the original. The leash string that came with it has no attachment method that I could figure out.
